Authorities are advising the public to be cautious in order to avoid disturbing the elephants who will be in the city until the end of the Dasara festival. The festivities have begun in Mysuru, with the revered Dasara elephants starting their rehearsals for the grand Jamboo Savaari procession. The procession will cover a five-kilometre route through the main roads of the city, starting at the palace and concluding at Bannimantap grounds. The elephants are getting accustomed to the sounds of vehicles, loudspeakers, firecrackers, and cannons during this time, with acclimatization sessions held twice daily in the morning and evening. Crowds are gathering to witness the procession led by the Howdah elephant, Abhimanyu, particularly on weekends when more people come to capture photographs. It is advised to follow certain guidelines when observing the Dasara elephants, including listening to mahouts and Kavadis, maintaining a safe distance, refraining from crossing in front of the elephants, avoiding direct photography in their path, refraining from honking, offering flowers to mahouts instead of directly feeding the elephants, and not following the elephants. The Jamboo Savaari is a significant part of the Dasara festival and takes place on Vijayadashami, showcasing caparisoned elephants, colorful floats, and cultural performances.
